PURPOSE OF MEETING:

 

To inform the Barron Park residents of the proposed 2006 Street Maintenance Project.

·        Paving and valley gutter work on Military Way from El Camino Real to Magnolia Avenue

·        A Cape Seal is planned for Coulombe Way.

·        Status of Maybell Avenue will be addressed.

 

To inform the residents of any future and planned work in Barron Park.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS:

 

1.         INTRODUCTIONS

 

2.         SCHEDULE

 

A.        Approximate duration and timing for construction.  The Contractor will submit a detail schedule prior to start of construction.  Anticipated construction starting for Phase  II is early summer.

           

3.         HOURS OF WORK

 

A.        Work shall be allowed to take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  No work is allowed during the weekends unless approved by the Project Engineer.  Work performed on Saturdays and/or Sundays shall be restricted to the hours between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

 

4.         NOTIFICATION TO RESIDENTS

 


A.        The City will distribute the general notices to the residents on the affected streets approximately two (2) weeks before the Street Maintenance Program Project starts.

 

B.                 The Contractor will distribute advance notices to residents on the streets to be closed. There will be two separate notices:  seven days in advance of, and 24 hours in advance of closing and/or resurfacing of each individual street.

 

C.                 You could also find the information on the City web site (http://www.city.palo-alto.ca.us/streetmaintenance/notices.html) street maintenance section after the contract has been awarded by the City Council.

 

5.         TREE TRIMMING

 

A.        Where the City street trees obstruct the Contractor's ability to perform the work; the Contractor will be responsible for all trimming necessary to create clearance for construction operations.

 

6.                  TRAFFIC CONTROL

 

A.        The Contractor will submit a detail traffic control plan prior to beginning construction.

 

B.         The Contractor will post the “No Parking” and “Work Description” signs on a barricade 72 hours prior to the start of construction.

 

            C.        If the schedule changes such that the dates and/or times on the ”No Parking” signs needs to change, new “No Parking” signs will be installed with the correct dates and/or times.

 

            D.        The Contractor shall allow for residential parking on at least one side of the street at all times.  ONLY ONE (1) SIDE of the street shall be closed at any time for construction of the valley gutters.  The Contractor shall finish installing and re-open the new valley gutters within seven (7) calendar days after excavation.

 

            E.         During the street paving work, the Contractor shall close the streets only during construction hours, but re-open by the end of the workday.  The duration of the street paving work shall be further analyzed after the Contractor submits a detail work schedule.


 

7.         SITE MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP

 

Throughout the construction period, the Contractor will maintain the job site for cleanliness.

 

8.         INSPECTION

 

All work will be inspected by the Public Works Inspector, the Project Inspectors and their authorized representatives.  

 

9.            SCOPE OF WORK

 

As part of Phase I, valley gutters on both sides are proposed along Military Way El Camino Real to Magnolia Avenue. Complete pavement replacement would begin after the valley gutter installation is complete.
